“The Big Pepper by Night” is inspired by the Big Dipper, one of the most familiar star shapes and useful navigational tools in the dark sky. The pointer stars of Dubhe and Merak point to Polaris, the North Star. Technically, the Big Dipper is not its own constellation, but a part of Ursa Major, a bear.
